Note 3 Wi-Fi Turns Off When Phone Goes To Sleep

Problem: Hello, I have problem with my Galaxy note 3. The problem started recently. When my phone is on “sleep-locked” it looses wifi connection and I do not get any emails or other notifications. When I unlock my phone then in about 30 seconds wifi is back. I tried to restart phone, took out the battery. But nothing helps.  Wifi settings are “Keep Wifi on during sleep – always “. I will very much appreciate your assistance.

Solution: If your Wi-Fi turns off when your phone goes to sleep then the first thing to check is its settings. Since you mentioned that you have made sure that the “Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep” setting has been enabled then the settings are good.

The next thing to consider is if whether a particular third party app installed in your phone is causing the W-Fi to turn off. To check this scenario you will have to boot your phone in Safe Mode.

  • Power off the device.
  • Press and hold the Power key for one or two seconds to turn on the device.
  • When the Samsung logo displays press and hold the Volume down key until the lock screen displays.
  • When the Lock screen is displayed Safe mode is displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen.

Verify if the issue still exists. If it doesn’t then it is most likely caused by an app that you installed. Find out what that app is and uninstall it.

In case the issue persists then this may be caused by a software glitch. You will have to perform a factory reset on your phone to resolve the issue. Just make sure to back up your data before performing this procedure.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘delete all user data.’
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to turn the restart the device.

Note 3 Can’t Text Specific Number

Problem: Hey guys, I’m having a problem with my stock messenger. I can text anyone with it except my wife’s phone. Texts from her phone to mine will come through but from mine to hers there is nothing. But everyone else can get my texts. I’m very confused by this. Now when I use a downloaded messenger like messaging plus, it will go through to her phone. Just not the stock messenger.  Is there any way to fix this?

Solution: This may just be a glitch in the stock messenger app of your phone. You should try to clear   the cache and data of this app. Make sure to back up any important messages that you have before doing this procedure.

  • From a Home screen, tap the Applications icon
  • From the Apps tab, tap Settings.
  • Tap Application Manager.
  • From the All tab, tap the Messages app.
  • Tap Clear cache.
  • Tap Clear data.

Note 3 Wi-Fi Lag Issue

Problem: Hey what’s up, I was reading your help section and couldn’t resolve my new 4.4.4 update for note 3  wifi problem and was hoping you could help me out. I’m running a non rooted At&t note 3 on comcast blast Internet with the big comcast modem with wifi built in. So since the update my wifi keeps lagging out or it’s the Phone Processor. Prior to 4.4.4 update my wifi worked flawless now I have to turn wifi on and off in the phone all the time as it’s lagging out. I forgot the wifi and re did it and it only lasts maybe an hour before the lag kicks in again. I’m about ready to factory restore my phone. HELP! When my phone acts up I grab my wifi ipad and it works as normal. Thank you!

Solution: If this issue occurred right after updating your phone to Android 4.4.4 then it’s most probably caused by a data conflict issue. The data from the old software version of your phone may not have been completely removed and is conflicting with the new software. This causes a problem with you Wi-Fi connection. The best way to resolve this issue is to perform a factory reset. Just make sure to back up your data first.

Note 3 Email Won’t Sync After Update

Problem: My phone Samsung note 3, upgraded 2 days ago to v 4.4.4, and now my email won’t sync. I’ve tried clearing cache, setting the sync, turning phone off & on. Nothing helps. Also when clicking on an email, it says load more details, which used to load in a couple of seconds, now just sits there with the circle going round and round. Is there anything I can do to get it corrected? Thanks.

Solution: Backup all of your important emails first before proceeding with the troubleshooting. One you have backed up your emails you should delete your email account. Make sure to have a copy of the correct email settings. After deleting the account clear the cache and data of the email app that you are using.

  • From a Home screen, tap the Applications icon
  • From the Apps tab, tap Settings.
  • Tap Application Manager.
  • From the All tab, tap the Email app.
  • Tap Clear cache.
  • Tap Clear data.

Setup your email account once again then try to see if you are now able to sync your emails.

Note 3 Google Search Not Working

Problem: Hi, my Google search on my galaxy note 3 home page doesn’t work. When I tap on to search nothing happens & when I tap on the microphone it still doesn’t work. Please help me resolve this matter.

Solution: The first thing you should do is to restart your phone. This refreshes your device and will usually clear out most issues related to software glitches. Next, make sure that your phone is connected to a stable Internet connection. If Google search still does not work then you will have to clear the cache your phone’s Google app.

  • From a Home screen, tap the Applications icon
  • From the Apps tab, tap Settings.
  • Tap Application Manager.
  • From the All tab, tap the Google app.
  • Tap Clear cache.

Note 3 Can’t Reply To Group Messages

Problem: I got a Note 3 in October and I cannot respond to group messages. I do appear to get most of the responses from others; however, when I try to respond the button is greyed out. Any advice? I have seen on one forum to try and change my APN settings.  I have tried that and still won’t work. Thanks

Solution: If you have verified that the APN settings of your phone is correct then what you should do next it to cleat the cache and data of your messaging app. This may delete your messages so make sure to make a backup copy.

  • From a Home screen, tap the Applications icon
  • From the Apps tab, tap Settings.
  • Tap Application Manager.
  • From the All tab, tap the Google app.
  • Tap Clear cache.
  • Tap Clear data.

If clearing the cache and data does not work then the next thing you should do is to perform a factory reset. This time you should back up all of your phone data as they will be deleted in the process.

Note 3 Wallpaper Not Showing In Home Screen

Problem: Hello, I was hoping you guys might have some knowledge of why my phone is not displaying an image I made as my home screen anymore. I’ll be as detailed as I can. And attach photos.    I made an image by combining, editing and finishing others in Autodesk’s Sketchbook for Galaxy app. After I finished it, I set it as my home screen and it worked just fine. That was 2 days ago. This morning my phone rebooted unexpectedly and when it was all set and ready to go I noticed my screen was black. When I went into my gallery to reset the photo, it said it was set. Went back to the home screen and it was still black. I moved the pic to a different folder and tried the same with the same result. I then took a screen shot of the image and set it, and still the screen is black. What I can’t figure out is why the photo worked fine for 2 days, and now that one specific photo won’t display as my home screen. Others will. But not that one. I use the Nova launcher and have no issues with it for over a year. And have never had an issue using any photo before.

Solution: This issue may be caused by a glitch in the phone software. Try using the stock launcher of your phone and check if the image can be set as a wallpaper. If it can then you will need to clear the cache and data of the Nova Launcher then set it up again. If the image still can’t be set as a wallpaper then try uninstalling the Nova Launcher and install a fresh copy from the Google Play Store.

If the image can’t be set as a wallpaper even when using the default phone launcher then you will need to wipe the cache partition of your phone.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key
  • When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache.
  • With ‘reboot system now’ highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.

Note 3 Broken Digitizer Issue

Problem: I have a note 3 with a broken digitizer and I was just wondering if I were to take the hard drive out and install it into a note 3 that the digitizer isn’t broken if that was something that might be possible. I also don’t care if I can use the phone to actually call on it I just need to get some important documents off of it.

Solution: For this to work you will have to take out the whole phone motherboard and swap it to a similar model that has a working digitizer.

If it is only the digitizer that is broken you may want to try to connect the phone to a computer running on the latest Kies software. If Kies can detect your phone then you can make a backup of its data.

Note 3 Can’t Take Screenshot

Problem: Hello my problem is when I try to do a screen shot it tells me “Security Policy prevents the use of screen capture” Please help me fix this problem.

Solution: This issue usually occurs whenever this phone is upgraded to KitKat and is generally attributed to the Knox software. To resolve the issue a factory reset is recommended. Just make sure to back up your data prior to performing the procedure.

Note 3 Long Charging Time

Problem: Hi, I own a Samsung Note 3 SM-N900 for the last 2 months, i used to have several apps in my phone specially games. Initially the full charging time for 20% to 100% was nearly 1.5 hours . but now it takes approx 2 hours to charge 50% using the charger given by Samsung with the handset itself. i used to clear cache memory frequently ad also clear the RAM. what should I do to fix this issue!

Solution:  In most cases like this the battery is usually the culprit. Try replacing your battery with a new one and see if it charges normally. Otherwise, this may be caused by a software issue in which case a factory reset is recommended. Just make sure to back up your phone data first.
