OnePlus has started teasing a new event for tomorrow, calling it “Back to Basics”. We will have to wait till tomorrow to find out what exactly this event has in store for us, but it seems like the company is going to announce some new metal back panels as previously rumored and also provide details on the Cyanogen fiasco to its fans.
We also hope to get a word on the company’s long awaited Android 5.0 ROM for the smartphone, which will officially mark the transition from the CyanogenMod based OS currently running on the smartphones.
The company has faced a lot of issues over the past couple of months. While it was already struggling to ship the One smartphone in required quantities, the company was faced with another hurdle after Cyanogen decided to tie up with an Indian manufacturer to offer exclusive software to their devices. This obviously angered OnePlus and the fans, with a court ordering to remove Cyanogen branding from all units of the One sold (in India).
But OnePlus seems to have gone a step further and decided to remove the Cyanogen branding from its global variants as well, after what was considered to be a deceitful move by Cyanogen. Here’s what the company had to say about this – “As OnePlus continues to grow and plant its flag worldwide, we’ve also decided to unify and conquer. As such, we have recently altered the back covers of all OnePlus Ones to feature a cleaner and more unified look across all regions. On the Silk White editions, we’ve added a small nub to the back cover—a design feature that helps prevent scratches and wear.”
