Some users of the 2013 Moto G (XT1033) are now reporting the arrival of Android 5.0.2 on their smartphones. This has taken some by surprise as Motorola is yet to issue an update to the 2014 Moto G in some regions. Screenshots prove that the update has indeed gone live with some users in Asia reporting its arrival. However, there’s still no sight of the update in Europe or the U.S. (barring the GPE version). However, some users of the 2014 Moto G in the U.S. are believed to be seeing the Lollipop update.
It’s a little confusing to understand the rollout schedule from Motorola as some units have received the update while some haven’t. The 2013 Moto G is perhaps the first device after the Nexus 7 to get the 5.0.2 update as most devices have been stuck on Android 5.0.1 for a while now. The delay in the rollout of Android 5.0 to its devices was caused by the recently discovered memory leak bug on Android 5.0. Users hope that Motorola will have fixed those issues before sending out the update.
If you’re one of the lucky bunch to have received the update, make sure you let us know by dropping a comment below.
