LG marked the arrival of 2014 with smartphones like the G Pro 2 and followed it up with the launch of the LG G3. The Korean manufacturer also announced a slew of midrange devices which have collectively contributed to its success.
The company has now announced that it shipped a total of 59.1 million smartphones in 2014, which is a new record in its history.
Although the number is nowhere close to Samsung’s sales figures, it has been a very lucrative year for LG. The shipments are a 24% increase for the company compared to last year, so it’s certainly good news.
The company has posted profits of $474 million in 2014, which is up by 125% compared to 2013. With the recent announcement of the G Flex 2 and the expected launch of the LG G4, the company will hope to make a significant impact on the global smartphone markets this year as well. The competition will be a lot harder this time around and the company will surely be mindful of that.
