The HTC One M8 has been a partial success for the Taiwanese manufacturer. But despite its not so impressive sales figures, people can unanimously agree that the smartphone is quite the looker as far as design is concerned.
Now a new report is suggesting that the company will launch a new variant of the smartphone known as the One M8i, but with a midrange hardware specs sheet. It is said that the device is currently known as the M8_QL internally.
The smartphone will reportedly be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 octa core chipset which uses the 64-bit CPU architecture running on ARM Cortex-A53 cores. This is pretty much all we know about the smartphone’s hardware specifications, but more could be revealed during the MWC event in March.
Considering the name of the device, it’s fair to assume that HTC will go with the same design as the One M8, including the BoomSound speakers and the all metal design.
It might not be a bad idea to rebrand the One M8 with midrange hardware just as the One M9 prepares to hit the markets in March. But until we have official confirmation from the company, we’re bound to treat this strictly as a rumor.
