The HTC Desire lineup has created enough buzz in the mobile industry over the past couple of years. The Desire 600 series in particular have struck a chord with the audience and show no signs of slowing down. And with the MWC fast approaching, it seems like the Taiwanese manufacturer is prepping the launch of yet another smartphone in the series calling it the Desire 626.
The leak comes from the reliable @Upleaks on Twitter which also sheds some light on the hardware specs of the handset. The device is reportedly packing a 5 inch 720p display, 16GB of storage, 1 or 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera on the back, a 5-megapixel front camera, a 2,000 mAh battery and Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Sense 6. An update to Android 5.0 Lollipop is said to be on the horizon.
Since it’s still early days, there’s some uncertainty over the chipset that the Desire 626 is running. According to the source, it is likely that HTC could be going with a 1.7 GHz octa core chip made by MediaTek while a 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 410 SoC cannot be ruled out either. The image published by the source also reveals the familiar front facing speakers here, so not a lot will be different in terms of design with the Desire 626.
The smartphone could certainly create massive ripples in the midrange market, so it’s a very important device for the company. The Desire 626 could be revealed during HTC’s March 1 event which is also expected to reveal the One M9 flagship.
