Unofficial Android 5.0 build for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 now available for download

Galaxy Note 3

The Galaxy Note 3 is in Samsung’s official Android 5.0 update list with a roll out expected to commence in early 2015. But we know how hard it can be to wait patiently for an update, especially if you own a flagship product like the Galaxy Note 3. But your wait might not be long after all as an XDA user has managed to compile a functioning Android 5.0 ROM for the smartphone (SM-N9005), complete with the new TouchWiz. Users claim that some features from the Galaxy Note 4 have been introduced here, which is certainly a welcome addition.

The ROM has the build number N9505XXUGBNL8 which may or may not feature in the final OTA update that Samsung rolls out to the Galaxy Note 3. Flashing this ROM requires you to have a rooted device and some know how about the ODIN software. You can find all the details in the official XDA post below.

Remember that flashing this ROM might erase all of your existing data, so make a backup beforehand. Have you already installed this ROM on your Galaxy Note 3? Let us know what you think.

  1. I’m willing to wait for the official release and let the phone update itself, but I’m wondering if it will fix the issue that seemed (from what I’ve read0 to come with the 4.2.2 upgrade — all my ringtone setups vanished, and now when I go into Settings and access Sounds>Ringtones, I get an error message that Settings has stopped. And nothing I can do — reboots, Safe Mode, etc. — makes a diff. I got the idea, when I Googled this problem, that it was the 4.2.2 upgrade that caused this problem. for me and other people. Any hope the 5.0 will fix it back??!!
