A user on Google+ claims that the Sony Xperia Z3 is prone to bending when kept inside the pocket, much like the Apple iPhone 6 Plus. The user has posted a series of images showing the visibly bent Xperia Z3. Considering that it’s thicker than the iPhone 6 Plus, it is possible that some extra pressure was applied on the device, which might have led to this.
But it’s still no viable defense for a smartphone which is supposed to be durable and sturdy from nature’s forces. Sony is yet to comment on this whole episode, but it shouldn’t take long for the company to respond.
The user hasn’t specified if the device was in the front or the back pocket before being bent, which could make all the difference really. Here’s what was mentioned in the post – “This is what happens when you put a Xperia Z3 in your pocket. I previously owned a Z1 and that blew up on me. This is my friends Z3, another friend has a Z3 compact and the back cracked from normal usage. Conclusion: Xperia Z Phones are subpar and not worth the money, too many failures to ignore.”
It is more than likely that is a very isolated incident as we haven’t heard about such a case before. But if this turns out to be a widespread issue, Sony will have to face the music.
