We’ve heard reports of Sony wanting to launch a large sized tablet in 2015 and a new report reiterates that. The Japanese manufacturer is apparently looking to get a sizeable chunk of the productivity based tablet market which only has a handful of options barring the Apple iPad.
Samsung’s range of Galaxy Tab Pro and Note Pro tablets tried to change that to some extent, although they didn’t leave a significant impact on the market. This new report stemming from Sony’s supply chain sources also mention that the tablet will carry a steep price tag of $1,000.
The tablet will apparently sport a 12.9 inch 3840 x 2400 resolution display in an exterior which is only 8.6 mm thick. The device is also expected to be packing an 8-megapixel camera on the back and possibly a powerful front facing camera as well for those video calls. Android 5.0 should obviously run by default on the device and it will be interesting to see what kind of customization Sony will have to offer with the UI. We’re expecting the tablet to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 SoC.
We’ll keep an ear to the ground for more word on this particular report.
