Sony Pictures’ The Interview now available for rent or purchase on Play Movies

The Interview

The Interview is perhaps the most talked about movie over the past couple of weeks. This is mainly due to threats from North Korean hackers who claimed to release vital information related to Sony and its subsidiaries if the movie was released. The film which was supposed to see a Christmas time release was gradually pulled out by theaters, leaving Sony high and dry.

However, Google has now stepped up and signed a deal with Sony, allowing customers of Play Movies to rent or buy the movie outright. And this comes just a day before Christmas, which makes it even better. One caveat though – the movie is only available for download in the U.S. for the time being, with distribution and copyright related concerns possibly forcing Sony’s hand to limit the launch.

Either way, it’s good to know that the movie is available to watch, at least in some capacity. The Interview can be rented or purchase in HD for $5.99 and $14.99 respectively.
