A report from a few weeks ago suggested that Samsung is looking to cut down on the total number of smartphones it launches in 2015. However, a new report now suggests that the company is prepping a new series of midrange smartphones dubbed the E series. We’ve already seen the A series of smartphones sporting metal exteriors, but these could be slightly under powered both in terms of design and internal hardware.
The leak is accompanied by hardware specs of two new devices belonging to this series – the SM-E500 and the SM-E700. Both devices are revealed to be packing 720p resolution with the E500 expected to sport a 5 inch display while the E700 will reportedly come with a 5.5 inch panel. The two devices feature 1.2 and 1.5 GHz quad core SoCs respectively.
As evidenced by the leaks, the specs of the smartphone are mostly midrange, so they will probably be targeted towards developing markets which is currently dominated by Samsung. We’ll keep an ear out for more word on these two smartphones.
