Note 3 Randomly Goes To Lock Screen

Problem: When making or receiving a phone call, if the other party terminates the call my note 3 goes to lock screen. In addition, occasionally my phone will go to lock screen when I am playing music and I receive a notification for email or text. This problem does not happen every time. My phone uses Verizon through my work enterprise. Phone is not rooted.

Solution: Since this problem occurs randomly there are different factors to consider that may be causing it. For this issue the top three suspects are the following; a corrupt data, third party apps, or a glitch in the software. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to resolve the issue. Proceed to the next step if the issue persists.

To check if the issue is caused by third party apps boot your phone in Safe Mode.

  • Power off the device.

  • Press and hold the Power key for one or two seconds to turn on the device.

  • When the Samsung logo displays press and hold the Volume down key until the lock screen displays.

  • When the Lock screen is displayed Safe mode is displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen.

If the problem does not occur in Safe mode then an app may be causing this. Find out what that app is and uninstall it.

To check if the issue is caused by corrupt data you should wipe the cache partition of your phone.

  • Turn off the device.

  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key

  • When ‘GALAXY Note II’ appears on the screen, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.

  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.

  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’

  • Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache.

  • With ‘reboot system now’ highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.

If the issue is caused by a glitch in the software then a factory reset is highly recommended. Make sure to backup your data before proceeding.

Note 3 Error 24 When Installing Facebook App

Problem: Hello! I hope you can help me. I cannot get the Facebook app to load on my galaxy note 3. It downloads just fine, but when it tries to install, I get about three quarters of the way through, it says its an error – 24. Can you help me?

Solution: An error 24 usually occurs whenever you try to install a new version of a particular app but then there are still traces of the old version in your phone.

To resolve this issue you will first have to delete the data of the old version in your phone. Open your file explorer program and go to /data/data/. Search for the Facebook folder and delete it.

Once you have deleted the Facebook folder go back to the Google Play Store and download the Facebook app.

Note 3 Email Sending Issue

Problem: Just got a note 3. since yesterday the stock email app started sending twice to its own “sent” folder, not to the recipient’s inbox. is there some way to make it stop doing that? thanks!

Solution: First make sure that your phone has a stable data connection. Try opening a website using the stock browser of your phone.

Next, you should try to delete the email account and set it up again. Make sure to backup any important messages that you may have.

Note 3 Apps/Photos Missing After SD Card Change

Problem: I installed this memory card last night and moved everything to it that was using too much space on my phone. Worked fine. Plugged it in to charge last night, this morning all of my apps and photos are missing. Just ghost thumbnails and a notification:”SD card is blank or has unsupported filesystem”! Help!

Solution: Try turning off your phone first. Take out the SD card and reinsert it after making sure that it is properly inserted. Turn on your phone. If everything goes back to normal then the issue may just be a glitch in the software.

If the problem still persists then turn off your phone again and take out the SD card. Insert the SD card in your computer and copy all of its contents in a separate folder in your computer ( for ease of accessibility try placing the folder in your desktop).

Once you have made a backup of the data stored in your SD card you should then proceed to reformat the card. Choose the FAT32 file system when doing a reformat.

After reformatting the card insert it in your phone to check if it can be detected. Once you have verified that it can be detected remove it again and insert it in your computer.

Copy the back up data from your computer to the SD card.

Reinsert the SD card to your phone.

If the issue still persists then you may have purchased a defective SD card. Try replacing it with a new one.

Note 3 SD Card Damage Error

Problem: I just purchased yesterday the Kingston 32 gb class 10 sd card it was fine working but the problem is in my note 3 neo it is showing the error of damaged sd card please format it . But the sd card was fine working in my pc and all other mobiles please help me to get out of this problem.

Solution: Take out the card from your phone and insert it in your computer. Back up the contents of the card to a folder in your computer ( for ease of accessibility try placing the folder in your desktop).

Reformat the SD card using the FAT32 partition. Once the reformat is complete insert it in your phone. If it can be detected by your phone without any errors then take it out again and insert it in your computer. Copy the backed up contents back into the card.

Insert the SD card back to your phone.

If the issue still persists then you may have a defective card. Try repacing it with a new one.

Note 3 Bulging Battery

Problem: I was using the phone to play a game for about five minutes when it shut off. It is a simple game that my son downloaded for me about a month ago and I have played a number of times without any issues. No overheating or shutdowns or any kind of issues at all. After the phone shut down, I turned it back on and it went into restart mode and continued trying to restart (vibrating; note 3; blank screen; repeat). I removed the battery and noticed that it was thick in the middle. What I mean is that it is twice as thick in the center as it is at the end and at the sides. I have never seen the battery before but I don’t think it should be like that. When I replaced the battery, it would not fit correctly and the phone went into repeat again. I am pretty sure I need a new battery but what could have caused this to happen. The only apps I have downloaded are MapQuest and this game. Both of the apps have been working fine for three to four weeks until now. Thanks.

Solution: You should immediately replace the battery of your phone with a new one. There is a possibility that the battery may leak or worse it may explode causing injury to the user.

If you have been using your phone normally then this may be caused by a manufacturing defect. Otherwise, other causes while a battey may bulge are overcharging or long exposure to heat.

Note 3 Freezing Issue

Problem: hello guys, i hope u can help me. i have a note 3 phone, but this phone is giving me a lot of work, because is stucking always and freezing too much. if i wanna open an appl it gonna take so long for it to execute the function. please help me.

Solution: The first thing that you should do in cases like this is to wipe the cach partition of your phone. This clears out any unnecessary temporary data that may be causing your phone to operate slowly.

If the issue persist then you should consider performing a factory reset. This brings your phone back to its original condition when it was new. It also deletes everything in your phone so make sure to back up your data before proceeding.

  • Turn off the device.

  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.

  • When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.

  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.

  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’

  • Press Power button to select.

  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘delete all user data.’

  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.

Note 3 Photo Retrieval

Problem: Hello! My husband has a Note 3. It fell off the top of the car yesterday and now it won’t turn back on at all. We brought it to T-Mobile to see if they have a company they can send the phone to and see if they can turn it on, and they said no. The issue is, there are photos from my pregnancy and our first child that are saved to the phone (not the miniSD card) and I would really like to try and get those photos off the phone. Do you think there is anyway to do it??

Solution: You should try connecting the phone to a computer running on the latest version of Kies. If Kies can detect your phone then you will be able to back up the photos and other personal data stored in it.

  • Connect your device to your computer using a USB cord.

  • Open Kies 3 and click the Back up/Restore tab.

  • If necessary, click Data backup.

  • Mark the checkbox next to the content you want to back up. You can select all content by marking the checkbox next to Select all items. Click Backup.

  • Click Complete when the backup is finished.

Note 3 Can’t Download MMS

Problem: My husband has a Note 3. When I send him a picture via MMS he has to click on download, then it reads ‘unable to download’, or it take literally 1 day for the picture to come through. Please help!

Solution: When sending or receiving MMS there are two things that need to be met. First, the phone must be able to connect to the mobile data network. Second, the phone must have the correct APN settings.

Try opening a website while connected to your mobile data network. If you can then the first condition has been met.

For the second condition, you should verify if the phone is using the correct APN settings that then network is using.

To check on your phone APN

  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.

  • Tap Settings.

  • Tap the Connections tab.

  • Tap More networks.

  • Tap Mobile networks.

  • Tap Access Point Names.

Verify if the settings in your phone are the same as what your network is using. Edit the settings if necessary. You can get the correct settings from the website of your network.

If both conditions are met and the phone still can’t download an MMS then restart the phone. This refreshes its connection to the network and should resolve the issue.

Note 3 Data Connection Question

Problem: Hey droid guy, So I know this might be a really dumb question, but i’m honestly curious. I just got a new galaxy note 3 for christmas and it’s my first smart phone. I know that I have a set amount of “data” but i’m a little confused. When I am in a place where there is WiFi, I hook up to that and then use the internet with the notion that i am not using data because i am using WiFi. My brother just recently told me that I have to turn off “cellular data” to make sure that my phone is only using the WiFi and not the data for internet usage. He has an iPhone 6+ so his system runs a bit differently than mine obviously. The only switch I can find is in my “Data Usage” found in the “settings” and the switch is called “mobile data”. Thinking that this is what my brother was referring to I switched it off only to find that I could not text anybody because apparently I can only text when mobile data is on. I have unlimited texting so the thought of my texting-called messaging-being linked to my data concerns me. My question is this: Do I indeed need to switch off mobile data to ensure that my internet usage is covered by the WiFi? And also is my messaging connected to my data, if so, then is it still unlimited? Any help in this area is appreciated because the manuals don’t really cover it as far as I can tell. Also, Merry Christmas!

Solution: Generally, Wi-Fi will take precedence over a phone mobile data. So for example if your phone has both Wi-Fi and mobile data turned on and you try to open a website your phone will use the Wi-Fi connection when getting online.

There are however cases when certain apps running in the background will use mobile data instead of Wi-Fi. This is why some people turn off their mobile data so as to ensure that only the Wi-Fi connection is used.

For your other concern if you are using the stock messaging app of your phone then it should not require any mobile data if you send out a regular text message. However, if your message contains emojis or photos then a data connection is required which means you will have to turn on your mobile data if you want to send messages.
