Google posts Android 5.0.2 factory image for the first gen Nexus 7

Nexus 7

While Android 5.0.1 is the latest version of Android according to our knowledge, Google has just taken us all by surprise by posting a factory image for the Android 5.0.2 ROM belonging to the WiFi Nexus 7 (2012). The update carries the build number LRX22G. Since the OTA hasn’t gone live yet, we haven’t managed to catch hold of the changelog, but we should have it in the coming week.

This is most probably carrying a bunch of bug fixes and some performance boosts which could be essential for a device as old as this. You can download and install the factory image on your tablet right away if you’re the curious types. Google is yet to post the factory image for the cellular version of the tablet, but that should be on the horizon too.

Bear in mind that flashing a factory image can be quite a lengthy process and requires you to do your due diligence. So if you’re new to the concept, it’s probably better to wait for the official OTA to pop.
