The 2013 and the 2014 Moto G are reportedly getting the Android 5.0.1 update according to users across the world. There’s no word on whether this is a region specific rollout or if the entirety of the globe is receiving it simultaneously. But rest assured, the update should land on your smartphones by Monday at the latest. So if you don’t see the update right away on your smartphone, make sure you’re patient and you will see it hitting the device eventually.
The update can also be downloaded from Motorola’s servers using the Motorola Device Manager (MDM) app for your PC or Mac. This will periodically check your smartphones for updates whenever you hook up your device to the computer. The alternative of course is to wait for the OTA update to manually pop on the smartphone. The reason for the delay is reportedly due to Motorola’s insistence on rolling out the Android 5.0.1 update to the devices instead of Android 5.0.
