Russian manufacturer Yota took us by surprise when it announced the uniquely designed dual display YotaPhone a couple of years ago. And although the smartphone is still available for purchase in some countries, the company has decided to refresh the smartphone with new hardware and software. Known as the YotaPhone 2, the company will unveil the device on December 3 at a dedicated event in London. The smartphone was shown off earlier this year, but it seems like the company will officially announce availability and launch markets during the course of the event.
The smartphone seems to be packing the same E-Ink display on the back with a conventional LCD panel on the front. However, the design appears to have been modified with more curves around the edges. The camera on the back is also seemingly altered compared to the predecessor, so we can expect a completely new device with the YotaPhone 2, although the concept still remains the same. The E-Ink display on the back is capable of showing notifications and interacting with the user, thus saving big on battery life.
