Black Friday is almost here, folks, and we have some fantastic deals coming your way! If you are in the market for a new, high performance smartphone, there are a ton out there from a great variety of bands–Samsung, LG, Google, and more! And with it being the day before Thanksgiving, all of the online and in-store deals are already starting. There are some huge discounts available right now, folks. I would act fast before people begin to go out of stock! Here’s our top 8 to look out for today, tomorrow, and the following week!
1. Samsung Galaxy S5
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is one of the hottest smartphones available this year. It’s quick, helpful, slim, performs like a beast, and has some amazing display quality. Coming in at a whopping 5.1-inches, you get a beautiful Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, and a pixel density of 432ppi. Of course, with the Super AMOLED display, you get those deep and vibrant colors. In other words, movies and most entertainment is going to look really good. And with that 5.1-inch screen, watching movies is not a problem!
Under the hood of this bad boy is quite a processing package. You get a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, clocking in at a whopping 2.5GHz. To compliment this high performance processor, you get the Adreno 330 and 2GB of RAM. It will handle just about anything you throw at it with ease. I cannot imagine a lot of people being able to push this package to its limits. Either way, the Galaxy S5 plays movies, games, and all sort of entertainment without a sweat. If you are looking for a high performance device that isn’t too large and is not too small, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is easily the way to go!
You can find this bad boy real cheap on Amazon, of course. Also, a lot of the carriers are having their own deals on all sorts of smartphones. I personally noticed that AT&T had some really good ones going on, though it seems like it’s for customers only when ordering directly from AT&T. Check it out!
2. Samsung Galaxy Note 4
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is yet another device to gawk over when it comes to high performance smartphones. This behemoth is great for just about anything. I am a big entertainment buff, so the smartphone’s 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display was perfect for me, and will be perfect for those of you with similar interests. Anyone who likes a lot of screen real estate on their smartphones will love its 5.7-inch display, clocked at a whopping 2560 x 1440 resolution. It also has a pixel density of 515ppi. The deep and vibrant colors of the Super AMOLED really look great on that bigger screen. Things just generally look nice on this device.
Under the hood, you get to see what really powers this behemoth. Depending on where you are from, you will either get the Exynos processor or the Snapdragon 805 processor, though most people will probably see the latter. The quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor clocks in at 2.7GHz, and with it you get a whopping 3GB of RAM, and the Adreno 420, which is a huge upgrade from what was in the Galaxy S5, the Adreno 330. This beast will rock just abut anything–Netflix, business presentations, you name it.
So, where can you find the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on sale? As always, Amazon is a good start, but you also have to remember that this is a fairly new smartphone, so you might not see many massive discounts on this guy.
3. LG G3
The LG G3 is probably my favorite on this list. It’s a hair smaller than the Galaxy Note 4, coming in at 5.5-inches, but it still has a beautiful display. It is rocking a resolution of 2560 x 1440, and a pixel density of 534ppi. To compliment all of that, you get Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 with that. Overall, it is a great entertainment package. Videos and movies look great, and if you drop it, it is not much of a problem, as the screen is not likely to shatter. I found articles and a lot of blogs very easy to read on this smartphone, too.
Under the hood is a bit more impressive. You get a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, clocked in at 2.5GHz. Similar to the Galaxy S5, it has the Adreno 330 GPU, but an extra gig of RAM at 3GB. In terms of everyday use, I would say the LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy S5 perform on the same level. However, it is nice to have that extra gig of RAM, as it tends to speed up the smartphone by old apps not hogging all of its memory.
If you are interested in picking this bad boy up, Amazon has it on sale right now, and you will get an even better discount if you are willing to sign up for a contract, though you may end up paying more by the end of the contract. Just keep that in mind!
4. Nexus 6
Finding a deal on Google and Motorola’s new device, the Nexus 6, is going to be a bit of a difficult one, since the smartphone just recently arrived on store shelves…and quickly evaporated. Google claims that the company will have more Nexus 6’s available every Wednesday, so be on the lookout, as this is a smartphone that is hard to pass up, especially when it is only $649 off-contract. Sure, that is a lot of money to shell out all at once, but you are getting quite a bit of smartphone here.
The Google and Motorola’s Nexus 6 is sporting a 5.96-inch AMOLED screen. It has a resolution of a whopping 2560 x 1440, and a crazy pixel density of 493ppi. Overall, this smartphone has a lot going for it when it comes the display package. Not only do you get the quality of the AMOLED display, but you also get some really high quality video and games with those specs.
Under the hood we have Qualcomm’s very own quad core Snapdragon 805, clocking in at 2.7GHz. To take things even further, it has an Adreno 420 and 3GB of RAM. If that is not a powerhouse of a smartphone, I am not sure what its. And for the photogenic crowd out there, strapped on the back of this bad boy is a 13-megapixel dual LED sensor. That said, you will be able to take some really nice photos with this bad boy.
If you are interested in the Nexus 6, make sure to check back on Wednesday at the Google Play Store bright and early to hopefully gets your hands on this guy. And you are going to have to act quickly, as their coming off the shelves as quickly as they are being put on!
5. Samsung Galaxy Note 3
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 might be last years technology, and if you had the choice, you would probably rather get the newer and nicer looking Galaxy Note 4, but the Note 3 is still quite a behemoth, just like its successor. Coming in at 5.7-inches, you get a 1920 x 1080 Super AMOLED display, coming in at a pixel density of 386ppi. Overall, it is not a bad package. In all honesty, the biggest difference between this phone and the Galaxy Note 4 is the larger resolution and higher pixel density. In terms of screen real estate, you may not notice a difference, but you will notice the degrade in screen quality, if you have used the Galaxy Note 4 before.
Under the hood is also fairly similar, aside from a upgraded processor and a slight bump in power. You get Qualcomm’s quad core Snapdragon 800. clocked at 2.3GHz. With it, you get the Adreno 330 GPU, and 3GB of RAM. Again, this is last year’s technology, but there is still a lot of power behind this guy. This beast plays Netfix, YouTube, and all of your everyday tasks without a sweat. So, if you do not mind a little less power, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is probably the best route to go, especially when it comes to cost savings.
And if that did not sell you, just remember, strapped onto the back of this guy is 13-megapixel sensor, which means you also get Samsung’s full suite of camera abilities.
Where you can pick this behemoth up? Amazon has it on sale for a mere cent through Verizon Wireless if you are creating a new account with the carrier or adding a new line of service. If you just plan on upgrading your device, it will be a $99.99 down payment, which still is not bad for how much smartphone you get!
6. Motorola Moto X
Motorola had a hard run for a couple of years. Then came the Moto X. Not only did the company push it really hard via aggressive advertising, but it is actually a really good smartphone as well. It was first launched in 2013, and then remastered in 2014, which is actually a bit of a step above the previous model. In the 2014 model, you get a 5.2-inch screen, rocking a resolution of 1920 x 1080, and a awesome pixel density of 424ppi. Of course, it also has the AMOLED display. Overall, the smartphone has a great display package. You will not be disappointed in this beast.
Under the hood of Motorola’s Moto X is a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, clocking in at a whopping 2.5GHz. With it, you get the infamous Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The Moto X is quite the performer with this processing package. I was impressed with how fluent movies and video in general was played. It also handles games really well. Apps like Clash of Clans and Modern Combat 4 played flawlessly.
If you are interested in getting your hands on Motorola’s latest edition of the Moto X, you can do so through a variety of options. If you are looking for an off-contract option, be sure to stay tuned for Motorola’s Cyber Monday sale, as the device is getting a massive price cut there. In the meantime, Amazon has some great deals on the Moto X already.
7. Samsung Galaxy S4
Up next is the Samsung Galaxy S4. It is a year older than its successor, the Samsung Galaxy S5, but it is still a great performing phone. In fact, much like the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 4, there is not a huge difference between the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4. The only real difference you will notice in using the Galaxy S4 is the screen quality, and that is only if you have used the Galaxy S5 before. Samsung’s Galaxy S4 sports a 5-inch Super AMOLED display, touting a resolution of 1920 x 1080. All of that makes for a great entertainment package, but what really seals the deal is the Galaxy S4’s pixel density–441ppi. Movies, video and entertainment generally look fantastic on this smartphone. Text is sharp, and colors are deep and vibrant.
Under the hood of the Samsung Galaxy S4 is where things are really different. As with most Samsung devices, the processor setup you get will differ based on your region, but in most cases, you will see this performer sporting a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, clocked in at 1.9GHz. With it, you get the infamous Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. All in all, it is not a bad setup. I would not hesitate to use this for business presentations, media, heavy gaming, and etc. It can really take the pressure.
Of course, let’s not leave out one of the best parts of Samsung’s higher end smartphones–the camera. Strapped on the back of this beast is a 13-megapixel sensor, capable of capturing beautiful photos at a maximum resolution of 4128 x 3096. And don’t forget, with that you get Samsung’s fully featured suite of camera features to help you capture the perfect moment.
8. LG G2
Last up on our list is the LG G2. I can be a bit biased when it comes to LG, but I think most people will agree that the LG G2 was one dang good smartphone, and it still is, despite its successor, the LG G3 being even better. If you could not get the LG G3 or you are just looking for higher chances of a deal, the LG G2 is obviously the way to go.
The LG G2 has a true HD IPS LCD display, coming in at 5.2-inches, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It also has a great pixel density of 424ppi. As you might expect, the LG G2’s screen quality is some of the best out there. Movies look great, videos look great, and entertainment in general just looks fantastic on this display.
Under the hood of the LG G2, believe it or not, is not much different from the LG G3. In the G2, you get a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, clocked in at 2.26GHz. As you might expect, you get the Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM to go with it, all making a great processing package. Compared to the LG G3’s Snapdragon 801 processor, clocked at 2.5GHz and 3GB of RAM, there really is not a big difference.
In the G2 you also get a 13-megapixel sensor strapped to the back of it. It is capable of taking photos up to 4160 x 3120 pixels. It has all of the cool goodies with it, too–optical image stabilization, autofocus, geo-tagging, face detection, you name it.
If you are interested in picking up the LG G2, Amazon has a great sale going on for it right now, on-contract and off-contract. Of course, I would also encourage you to go back up in the article and check out the LG G3 first and see if you can get it around the same price–it really is worth it!
