Not only is Amazon an online retailers, offering some showstopper deals this Black Friday, but the company also produces a lot of its own great devices. What happens when you mix the two together? Well, today Amazon has slashed the prices on almost all of their own company devices for this Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend. Sure, not everyone out there likes Amazon devices, but you sure can’t beat a mid-range tablet for a mere $100. With all of that said, here are the top eight Amazon devices that got their sticker prices slashed big time!
1. Amazon Kindle
This is the very basic of all of Amazon’s devices–the Amazon Kindle. It is pretty much the bare minimum when it comes to Amazon’s eReaders, however, it does have a few cool features. Amazon advertises this device as “lighter than paperback,” which is very true. That makes the device easy to carry around. So, say you have textbooks you need for class, it is much easier to buy them digitally and carry around a Kindle than nearly fifty pounds worth of books.
One of the best parts about the Amazon Kindle is its battery. You do not need to worry about charging it after reading for an hour or two, as the battery will last for weeks on end. Personally, one of the best things about Amazon’s Kindle, is the fact that it is not a tablet, just an eReader, which means you can read without being distracted. You do not have easy access to YouTube, push notifications, emails, news alerts, texts, and etc. The Amazon Kindle is just you and your favorite book.
So, how much does this little performer run for? Normally it sits at about $79, not including taxes or shipping. However, Amazon has brought the price down to $49, saving the customer a whopping $30, which is quite a bit of savings for this device. Take a look for yourself here.
2. Amazon Kindle Paperwhite
Yet another great device from Amazon’s eReader collection is the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite. This is a lot better than the bare boned Amazon Kindle for many reasons. For starters, the Amazon Kindle battery lasts just a couple of weeks, while the Paperwhite can last up to a month or more on a single charge. In using this myself, I have found that some of the best features is the lack of glare in blaring sunlight, which makes this the perfect device to take to the beach or park and read, if you are into that!
Much like the Amazon Kindle, one of my favorite things about this device is the lack of access you have to distractions or urges to “look something up real quick.” There is no YouTube, texting or any of the sort on the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite. Just you and a book. However, it does have a library of books you have access to, which could be a distraction in itself, albeit a good one!
When it comes to the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, normally you will see this guy running for $119 with special offers on Amazon. For the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend sale, you can pick this guy up from Amazon for $20 cheaper, at $99. However, do remember that the Paperwhite is available in a lot of brick-and-mortar retail shops, so chances of finding an even better deal are quite high. That is, if you want to wade through the crowds of Black Friday shoppers.
3. Kindle Voyage
This device is not on sale, mind you, but it is worth a quick mention for you book readers out there. This is Amazon’s high-end eReaders. The Paperwhite and Kindle are pretty much last year’s technology compared to this performer. Coming in at a humble 6-inches, the Amazon Kindle Voyage is the company’s thinnest eReader yet. Not only that, it has the best resolution out of Amazon’s other eReader options. With a pixel density of 300ppi, you get some of the best quality text you will ever see on an eReader.
Besides that, what is new in Amazon’s new eReader, the Kindle Voyage? It is equipped with a light sensor, which will automatically dim or brighten the display bases on the environment it is in. It is very comfortable to use in one hand, as it is significantly lighter than Amazon’s past eReaders. In fact, hold them up side by side–you will notice a huge difference. Finally, one of the most interesting features of this device is PagePress, which lets you, the reader, turn pages without having to lift a finger, which in turn, helps you become much more immersed in your eBook. Ultimately, the Kindle Voyage is a device that closes the gap between physical books and electronic devices.
You can pick up this bad boy straight from Amazon for $199.99. While there is no special deal on the Kindle Voyage, it does come with special offers, such as Amazon Prime for $40 off and some discounts on accessories. You can check it out here.
4. Amazon Kindle Fire HDX
Amazon’s Kindle Fire HDX is not the best tablet in the company’s lineup (we will cover that later), but there is certainly one heck of a deal on this bad boy. The 7-inch display may be a turnoff, but it can put out some good quality entertainment. It has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, and has a pixel density of a whopping 323ppi. In other words, this little IPS LCD display puts up some competition even when it comes to some of the best tablets out there, in terms of displays, of course.
Under the hood of this bad boy is a decent processing package. It has a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. It is clocked at a whopping 2.2GHz, has an Adreno 330 GPU, and 2GB of RAM. You might be surprised, this little seven incher can put out a lot of power. It plays movies, video, and some more demanding games without a sweat. The only disappointing factor about this tablet is Amazon’s ecosystem. Let’s face it, Amazon’s App Store just is not the best when it comes to getting all of the popular and more demanding applications.
Either way, this guy usually runs for $199, but for the Black Friday and Cyber Monday discounts, Amazon slashed the price by $20, giving it a price tag of $179. On top of that, there are a lot of accessory discounts and Prime discounts available to you. Mix that with some holiday gift cards, and you really have some bang for your buck. You can pick up the tablet straight from Amazon, but it might be worth checking other retailers for even better deals, as well.
5. Amazon Fire HD 7
Next up on our list is the Amazon Fire HD 7. As you might expect, this is yet another 7-incher. However, it is quite a drop from the HDX, as it has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It is also sporting a pixel density of 216ppi. With all of that mixed in with the IPS LCD display, things just do not look as good as they could, especially when you compare it some of Amazon’s other tablets up the food chain. If you do not mind lower quality video, movies and general entertainment plays just fine on this little performer.
There is not much going on under the hood either. In this processing package, you get a dual core (yes, a dual core) 1.5GHz processor and a mere gig of RAM. There definitely is not much power happening over here. However, what is unique about the Amazon Fire HD 7 is that it comes in a massive amount of colors, so there is a lot more personalization when it comes to this tablet over some of the others.
The Amazon Fire HD 7 normally sells for $139, but for the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend sale, you can get it for $30 off at $109. It does not seem like any accessories are on sale for this device, but you still get the offer where you can get Amazon Prime for $40 off. You can check it all out here.
6. Amazon Fire HD 6
Next up on the list is Amazon’s all new Fire HD 6, which as you can imagine, is a step below our previous entry, the Amazon Fire HD 7. Of course, that does come with an even cheaper price tag, but we will cover that in just a minute. This tablet gets even smaller. Coming in at 6-inches, you get a bit of a disappointing resolution at 1280 x 800 pixels, with a pixel density of 252ppi. Like I mentioned in the previous entry, that is not a terrible setup, but mixed with the IPS LCD display, things just do not look as good as they could, which is probably how Amazon gets this tablet so low in price. Either way, if you have been watching old and low quality Netflix movies for the past few days to ring in the Christmas spirit, you probably will not notice a thing…until you pick up the new Hunger Games movies and are absolutely disgusted.
Under the hood gets even worse. You get the same processing package–that dual core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and 1GB of RAM, however, this tablet is only capable of storage up to 16GB, depending on what model you get. And with most Amazon devices, you could not find a microSD card slot to save your life. That said, between the OS, and all of Amazon’s bloatware, you are not going to have much space for apps, movies or music.
This is kind of a disappointing device. It is virtually the same as the Fire HD 7, but only an inch smaller. I guess if you are on a really slim budget it is not bad, but if you have some money to spend, I would veer away from this one. However, this is a great tablet when it comes to small children, particularly because of how cheap it is right now. Normally the Amazon Fire HD 6 runs for $99, but for the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend special, you can pick this little performer up for $79. It would be the perfect gift for any small child on Christmas morning!
7. Amazon Fire HD Kids Edition
Speaking of gifts for the children at home, the Amazon Fire HD Kids Edition might just fit the bill perfectly. Keep in mind that this is the exact same thing as either the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7 or the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 6, only it has a highly protective rubber seal around it to keep it from being damaged. In other words, it is absolutely perfect for a kids first device, and just imagine the shock on their faces Christmas morning!
This device comes in 6-inch or 7-inch options, both sport a 1280 x 800 display. The big difference in this little performer is that it has a quad core processor instead of the dual core in the HD 7 and HD 6. One of the best features of this tablet is probably the two-year no questions asked warranty. If you break it, Amazon will replace it free, no questions asked. On top of that, Amazon throws in a year of unlimited FreeTime, so you will have to invest little money in this for at least a year after you buy it and activate it.
How much does this performer run for? It goes for $149, but Amazon throws a lot of free stuff in there to make it worth your money, such as their kid-friendly software, free access to FreeTime, and of course, the kid-proof case. You can check it out right here.
8. Amazon Fire Phone
Moving onto smartphones, we have Amazon’s one and only smartphone–the Amazon Fire Phone! There has been a lot of flack about this around the price for awhile now, but Amazon recently cleared it all up and is now selling the smartphone for a penny on-contract. In fact, some carriers you can even find it for free on-contract. I believe both Amazon and Verizon Wireless are offering those deals, at least through the Black Friday weekend!
The Amazon Fire Phone is sporting a 4.7-inch display, touting a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, and a pixel density of 312ppi. It is an IPS LCD display, and is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3, so accidentally dropping it should not do a whole lot of damage! Overall, it is a good device. The screen quality is not bad, but then again, there really is not anything to use it for, as you do not have the Google Play Store with this device. So, you get Amazon’s AppStore with a limited amount of games. Then you have phone calls and text. Of course, you have the option to watch movies, too.
Under the hood of this bad boy is a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, clocked in at 2.2GHz. It is also equipped with an Adreno 330 and 2GB of RAM, so the processing package is up there with some of the more high end smartphones of last year. That is not a bad device at all. That said, you can get your hands on this device for as little as free this Black Friday weekend. Of course, that is on-contract, it runs for a tad bit more off-contract, but the price still is not bad. You can check it out here.
And that wraps up the list of Amazon devices that are currently on sale. Just keep in mind that while these are Black Friday and Cyber Monday straight from Amazon, chances are, you might be able to find these devices somewhere even cheaper at a local retailer, especially if you have coupons or offers to claim in advance! Also, another thing to keep in mind–while these are Black Friday sales, all of these devices will be on sale for awhile, as Amazon is always running specials on their own items for the holidays. Expect to see these kind of prices from the company until a little after Christmas.
