Sony Xperia Z Ultra gets an AOSP based Android 5.0 ROM

Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Sony has announced that most of its 2013 and 2014 smartphones will receive the Android 5.0 update. However, the company didn’t clarify as to when these smartphones will get the update. But if you own an Xperia Z Ultra phablet, you will be able to get an early look of Android 5.0 thanks to a keen developer over at the XDA Forums. This ROM isn’t the final version, but an AOSP based ROM nonetheless.

The ROM is far from usable apparently, and the developer mentions that it doesn’t have a functioning GPS, video player and the camera app. So only install this particular ROM only to satisfy your curiosity as it cannot be used on your primary smartphone.

Sony should start the Android 5.0 rollout very soon with devices like the Xperia Z3 and the Z2 high up on the list to get it. It’s only after these devices that Sony will begin seeding the update to devices like the Xperia Z1 and the Xperia Z Ultra.

If you have a spare Xperia Z Ultra at your disposal, make sure you give this ROM a try from the link below.
