Note 3 S Health Update Issue

Problem: I was prompted to update s Health on my Galaxy Note 3 on 11/18/14 and was then prompted to update the HealthService when opening s Health for first time after update. I get an error “Installation failed. Try later. (-24)” What is the problem? Thank you!

Solution: The error message displayed on your device indicate that there was a problem with the update process. The first thing you need to do is to clear the data and cache of the app and then try running it again to see if the error message disappears.

  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.

  • Tap Settings.

  • Tap the General tab.

  • Tap Application manager.

  • Swipe to All tab.

  • Tap the desired application

  • Tap Clear cache.

  • Tap Clear data and then tap OK

If the above procedure does not work then repeat it but instead of tapping clear cache and data you should instead tap uninstall app updates.

The S Health app on your phone should be working without any problems by now. If you are prompted to update the app then go ahead with the update process.

Note 3 Error 24 When Downloading Facebook App

Problem: I have a problem with my note 3 when I go to play store to download Facebook app it comes back with an error 24. I go on Google to face book and it’s not a problem but I cannot download the app on play store and it’s frustrating. Can you please help?

Solution: An error 24 occurs when data from the previous app software version is still left in your phone. This data should normally be removed automatically once you try to get the latest version of the app but due to a glitch o some sort it is still present in your phone. When the Google Play Store sees this data it immediately gives you this error 24 message. To resole this issue follow the troubleshooting steps below.

  • Using a file manager, go to /Android /data

  • Find the package name of the app you want to install

  • Delete that folder. All of it.

  • Try to install your app again, it should work now

Note 3 Freezes When Texting

Problem: Hello, Lately I have been having an issue with my note 3 with the text messaging screen freezing while I am trying to text. It will let me text sometimes but then it will freeze and duplicate my words or just freezes and blinks and then I have to wait for it to go through its little tantrum it could take me 10 minutes just to type 5 words. I have powered off and powered on and that doesn’t seem to help. Can you help me please before I eventually throw it out of a moving car.

Solution: We hope we can help you wit your concern so you won’t throw your phone out of a moving car. Anyway, from what we understand of this issue it only appears when you are trying to send a text message. All other aspects of your phone works normally aside from the issue you mentioned. If this is the case then the problem may just be with your Messaging app. What you should do is to clear the cache and data of this app. Be sure to make a backup of any important messages that you have stored since this may be deleted in the process.

  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.

  • Tap Settings.

  • Tap the General tab.

  • Tap Application manager.

  • Swipe to All tab.

  • Tap the desired application

  • Tap Clear cache.

  • Tap Clear data and then tap OK

Try composing a text message and see if the above procedure works. If the problem still persists then your next step is to wipe the cache partition of your phone. This procedure does not delete your personal data.

  • Turn off the device.

  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key

  • When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.

  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.

  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’

  • Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache.

  • With ‘reboot system now’ highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.

Note 3 Business Card Recognition Fails After Update

Problem: Hi Droidteam, After an update ( don’t know which) Business card recognition fails. After making a picture of a business card the message: “Unfortunately, Business card recognition stopped working.” ANDROID 4.4.2 is on my phone. Any idea how to solve this problem? Thanks,

Solution: It isn’t uncommon for issues to occur right after a phone undergoes a software update. In this case you are getting an Unfortunately, Business card recognition stopped working” error message. One of the best ways to resolve this issue which works most of the time is to clear the cache and data of the business card recognition app.

  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.

  • Tap Settings.

  • Tap the General tab.

  • Tap Application manager.

  • Swipe to All tab.

  • Tap the desired application

  • Tap Clear cache.

  • Tap Clear data and then tap OK

If the above procedure fails to resolve the issue then you might want to consider doing a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your data first before performing this procedure.

  • Turn off the device.

  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.

  • When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.

  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.

  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’

  • Press Power button to select.

  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘delete all user data.’

  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.

  • Press the Power key to turn the restart the device.

Note 3 Force Closes Apps & Heats Up

Problem: Hello I came across your site while searching for answers one my note 3 issues. So heres my list that just started 3 days ago. Force closes apps (not limited to specific ones does it to all already on phone or downloaded) when trying to open gallery its a black screen then freezes have to take the battery out to restart. email takes forever to open and doesn’t update. When the battery gets low (under 20%) thats when it acts up the worst it will not turn on when i lock the screen its totally unresposive to any button pressed once again battery out and restart and it randomly freezes out. Battery dies within 10hrs of charge when i first got it in marchish it would hold a charge for over 36hrs! And it gets very warm almost hot. Sometimes when it freezes I can not answer the phone no way to. Geez makes me miss mt ol’ reliable flip phone sanyo M1. Any help other then a factory reset is great as my SD was full and the phone is telling me its unmounted when its in there so everythings actually on the phone.

Solution: There are several other troubleshooting steps that you can do aside from doing a factory reset. The first and easiest is to perform a reboot.

  • Turn off phone

  • Take out the battery

  • Take out the microSD

  • Press and hold the power button for at least 3 minutes

  • Reinsert the battery (leave the microSD out)

  • Turn on the phone

Next, you can wipe the cache partition of your phone to improve its performance. This doesn’t delete your personal data.

If the issues you are experiencing with your phone are somehow caused by an app or a group of apps then booting your device in Safe Mode is one way of checking. While in this mode only the default apps are loaded while those that you installed from the Google Play Store are disabled.

  • Power off the device.

  • Press and hold the Power key for one or two seconds to turn on the device.

  • When the Samsung logo displays press and hold the Volume down key until the lock screen displays.

  • When the Lock screen is displayed Safe mode is displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen.

If your phone does not freeze in Safe Mode then certain apps installed in your phone may be causing the problem. Find out what that app is and uninstall it.

Note 3 Stopping Over The Horizon Ringtone

Problem: I’m having a problem with my Samsung galaxy note 3 when my phone is on loud a ringtone starts playing the ringtone is “over the horizon” it plays through my other ringtone/notifications that I have assigned also it plays if I’m listening to music or on the phone. The only time it stops is when I put my phone on vibrate or silent. I tried taking the battery out to reboot it but after a couple of hours with my phone on loud it just comes on out of no where.

Solution: This is definitely not a normal phone behavior. Make sure your phone is running on the latest software update before troubleshooting the issue.

You should first try wiping the cache partition of your phone and see if this resolves the issue.

If the problem still persists then you should do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your data first.

Note 3 Phone Has Been Modified

Problem: Hello, I have the sm-n9005 note 3 and when I try to get the kitkat update, it says my phone has been modified. I have tried Kies and a factory reset but still the same message. Thanks for your help!

Solution: Your phone could either be rooted or running on a custom firmware. In both cases the regular way to update your phone software will not work. You will have to manually update the software of your phone using a software called Odin and flash the updated firmware to your phone. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several popular Android forums.

Note 3 Videos Not Playing Properly

Problem: Hello, I have two problems I’ve encountered when trying to view videos on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3: 1) Advertisements play, but then the main video I wanted to view does not play. The ads don’t include a “skip ad” option. 2) Some videos play, but there’s no audio—even when I turn up the volume. I hope you can help resolve these issues. Thank you!

Solution: I’m assuming that this problem happens when you use the YouTube application. To resolve this issue you should first clear the cache and data of the YouTube app.

  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.

  • Tap Settings.

  • Tap the General tab.

  • Tap Application manager.

  • Swipe to All tab.

  • Tap the desired application

  • Tap Clear cache.

  • Tap Clear data and then tap OK

If the problem is still present after performing the above procedure then repeat it but instead of tapping on clear cache and clear data tap on uninstall app updates instead.

Wiping your phone cache partition may also help resolve this issue. Don’t worry as this does not delete your personal data.

Note 3 Cannot Access Call Waiting Option

Problem: Dear Droid Guy, I recently changed service providers and encountered a much inferior Voicemail services issue, (compared to my former provider) in the course of which I became involved in a discussion about which services are controlled by the handset and which are controlled by the service provider. With respect to Call Waiting on this handset, a handset controlled service, the access process, a procession of steps, which bring me to Additional Settings, this in turn results in a banner reading – Error – and – Network or SIM card error – Clicking on “OK” removes this banner and reveals the Additional Settings page. 3 from the bottom (on my handset, or my version of handset) is “Call Waiting”, but I cannot select this option because it is ‘greyed out’ and inactive. Can you throw any light on how I should turn this function into an active one so I can turn Call Waiting on and off?

Solution: The call waiting option may be inaccessible when your phone is operating at certain bands. Try switching your phone to 3G if it is in 4G mode then check if you can now access the call waiting option.

  • Tap the Menu key and then tap Settings.

  • Tap Connections then tap More networks.

  • Tap on Mobile networks.

  • Tap on Network Mode.

  • Choose between 2G/3G auto or 2G/3G/4G auto.

You should also ask your current service provider if they are offering the call waiting option with the plan that you are currently using.

Problem: Good day! Hope that you are well and that you could assist me with my Galaxy Note 3. Some times, 1 call in 7,after a call my note doesn’t cut the call but hangs on the dropped call screen. I have to reboot the phone to make a call again. Hope that you can assist me.

Solution: If your phone freezes sometimes right after a call then this might be caused by a corrupt data. Wiping the cache partition of your phone should help resolve this issue.
