Just as the WiFi models of the NVIDIA Shield Tablet received the Android 5.0 update last week, the company has now begun the rollout for the LTE model as well. It usually takes longer for cellular variants to receive the update as the company has to account for the network radios and other functionality while developing the ROM. NVIDIA had clarified that it was waiting for carrier approval to go ahead with the update.
In terms of usability, the Shield Tablet LTE will receive similar changes as the WiFi version, so don’t expect any new changes on board. However, NVIDIA will have some of its custom tweaks on board to set it apart from the rest of the stock Android crowd. The Dabbler app on the device has received an update, along with the Shield Hub where users can find a wide range of titles for the tablet. Strangely, the Shield Tablet LTE has received the update even before the cellular versions of the Nexus 7, which could be a cause for concern.
