NVIDIA Shield Tablet expected to get Android 5.0 this month

NVIDIA Shield Tablet Android 5.0

NVIDIA announced the Android 5.0 update for the Shield Tablet last month. And today, the manufacturer has spilled the beans on when exactly the update will start hitting the tablets. According to a new video posted by the company, the tablet will receive the coveted Lollipop update before the end of November.

Fortunately it seems like the LTE variant will also receive the update along with the WiFi models, which is quite admirable as manufacturers have historically taken longer to update cellular models. Considering that the Shield Tablet packs an almost stock version of Android, it’s safe to expect a user interface very identical to what we see on the HTC Nexus 9.

NVIDIA has been kind enough to offer us a sneak peek of what the Android 5.0 update will bring to the Shield Tablet in the form of a video. We can see the reworked Dabbler and Shield Hub apps here as well as the Material Design elements across the board. Do you own a Shield Tablet? What do you make of this news?
