New app lets you use Facebook chat without requiring Messenger

Facebook Messenger

In order to increase adoption of the Messenger application, Facebook removed the chat feature from the standalone application. This meant that the users had to rely solely on Messenger to converse with their Facebook friends on mobile. But a new app called Facebook Chat Re-Enabler from XDA lets you bypass the Messenger app and use chat directly from the Facebook app.

The app will have to be downloaded from the XDA forums as it isn’t available from the Play Store yet. It is said that the feature works on the Facebook app with the following version numbers:

  • (and any version before)
  • (latest Play Store version)

It’s quite a nifty idea from the developers to come up with an app like this which makes lives a little easier for Facebook regulars. However, it’s very likely that Facebook might make this new hack unusable with a future update, so refrain from downloading updates in the near future if you want to keep using it. User comments have confirmed that the application works as it’s supposed to, so make sure you give it a go from the link below.
