The LG G Watch R wearable was made available in select markets last month. And LG is now ready to expand availability to bigger markets, including the U.S. The smartwatch which will be sold through AT&T this Friday has now been listed on the Google Play Store as well. To our surprise, the device is revealed to be priced at $299, which is quite expensive for a smartwatch of this caliber. In comparison, the Moto 360 is $50 cheaper despite featuring a relatively bigger display.
Going by this, it’s safe to assume that the pricing set by the carriers won’t be any different either. The G Watch R features a circular display, which is a rarity in the wearable industry. But as more companies step into the smartwatch arena, we can expect to see such devices increasing in frequency.
For those unaware, the LG G Watch R packs a 1.3 inch display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. It also sports a Snapdragon 400 chipset, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and the latest version of Android Wear (4.4W.2). Early reviews have been very favorable towards the G Watch R owing to its battery life and display quality. Do you think it’s a viable alternative to the Moto 360?
