HTC Desire Eye officially launching via AT&T on November 7

HTC Desire Eye AT&T

The HTC Desire Eye is AT&T’s latest announcement of the day in what has been a very busy Monday with the LG G Watch R and the Moto 360 being announced earlier in the day. Not to mention the ruggedized Kyocera DuraForce handset, which is launching this Friday along with the aforementioned devices. The Desire Eye will reportedly be an exclusive to AT&T in the U.S.

The Desire Eye is also accompanied by the HTC RE Camera which is a standalone camera that pairs with your smartphone over Bluetooth and WiFi. The Desire Eye has been priced at $149.99 on a two year contract or $549.99 sans contract. The Re Camera costs $199.99, but the carrier is offering a $50 discount on the camera if you bundle it with the Desire Eye.

To refresh your memory a bit, the Desire Eye comes with a 5.2 inch 1080p display, a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 SoC, 2GB of RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat, a 2,400 mAh battery and IPX7 certification for water and dust resistance. The highlight of the smartphone however is the 13-megapixel front facing camera accompanied by a dual LED flash, which is a first in the industry. The back also has a 13-megapixel sensor but with a slightly improved aperture size.

For $149.99 or $549.99, the Desire Eye seems like a good bargain especially considering the hardware on offer. AT&T will expect to target the selfie centric audience with the two devices given their credentials.
