AT&T has surprised everyone by issuing a software update to the three year old Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. The smartphone which last saw the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update nearly two years ago, hasn’t seen any updates since. The update changelog only mentions “Android OS Enhancements“, leaving much to the imagination. But users will be glad to know that the smartphone isn’t forgotten, not by Samsung at least.
The Android version remains unchanged at 4.1.2, so there’s not much to expect as far as the changes are concerned. The update is a measly 12.6MB in size so it probably won’t take a long time to finish installing. Samsung’s smartphones have fallen off the support cycle pretty quickly as we’ve noticed in the past. However, it’s good to know that the company still manages to issue updates to a device as old as this.
