HTC offered good news to its customers last week by mentioning that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update will begin rolling out to the Google Play Edition HTC One M8 and the One M7 today. But unfortunately, there’s bad news waiting for users of the device this morning. According to Mo Versi, who handles most of HTC’s update related announcements, the smartphone will not receive the update today.
Responding to a user query, he mentioned that the smartphone requires new software, so we’re guessing the device probably ran into some last minute issues running the current build of Android 5.0. As of now, there’s no timeline of the next update rollout, causing more frustration to device owners. The final release of Android 5.0 is still relatively new, which means that HTC probably failed to spot a couple of bugs in time for the rollout.
We’ll keep a close eye on HTC for any word on the Android 5.0 update for its range of GPE smartphones.
