You can now download the Messenger app from Android 5.0 Lollipop

Google Messenger

Google is introducing a new Messenger application with Android 5.0 which replaces Hangouts or Messaging as the default app for SMS and MMS. And users have to wait until the Android 5.0 Lollipop update starts rolling out to get a feel of this new app. But thanks to a few keen and curious developers, the app has been extracted from the latest developer preview of Android 5.0, meaning that the apk file is now available for download.

Fortunately enough, the installation of this app doesn’t require root access. So all you have to do is download the apk file, sideload and install it on the device of your choice and enjoy the goodness of Google’s new Material Design update. One caveat here is that the devices need to be running at least Android 4.4 for the app to be compatible.

Download the apk file from the link below and let us know what you think of Google’s latest Messenger app.
