Sprint is now rolling out an OTA update to its variant of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. Although the smartphone has been forgotten by many, it’s good to know that the device is still supported by the carrier. This update comes directly from Sprint, so there won’t be a change in the Android version. The changelog isn’t as fascinating as a full blown Android update, but it brings forth a couple of nifty additions nevertheless.
First and foremost, the update will finally allow users to make WiFi calls to international contacts, which was not possible prior to this update. Customers can make free calls to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands while making calls to the rest of the world is chargeable under Sprint’s standard rates.
The update also brings the HD Voice icon to the device, which we’ve seen in most Sprint updates of late. The software version will change to L600VPUBNJ1, so make a note of that if you’re expecting the update.
