Sony to bring Android 5.0 to all Xperia Z devices starting 2015

Sony has just showered some good news on customers of its Xperia Z series of smartphones and tablets. Starting early 2015, the manufacturer will begin rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its smartphones such as the Xperia Z, Z1, Z2 and the Z3. The Google Play Edition Sony Z Ultra however will receive the update along with other GPE and Nexus devices. Luckily enough, Sony has included some not so popular handsets in the list as well. Here are the devices that will receive the coveted new update:

  • Xperia Z
  • Xperia ZL
  • Xperia ZR
  • Xperia Tablet Z
  • Xperia Z1
  • Xperia Z1S
  • Xperia Z Ultra
  • Xperia Z1 Compact
  • Xperia Z2
  • Xperia Z2 Tablet
  • Xperia Z3
  • Xperia Z3v
  • Xperia Z3 Compact
  • Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact

There’s no word on when its midrange offerings will start receiving the update, but we won’t be holding our breath for that one. The company will begin the rollout of flagships like the Xperia Z2 and the Xperia Z3 in early 2015 with other devices following shortly after.
