Android 5.0 Lollipop went official last week along with the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9. While other Nexus devices are expected to receive the update in November, customers had no idea about when the OEM versions of the smartphones would get the update. But gradually, the likes of Sony, HTC and Motorola provided clarification on their update schedule for the current crop of devices. Samsung was also believed to be in the list although the company made no official statement about it.
That changes now with Samsung posting a teaser on Twitter talking about the Quad HD display of the Galaxy Note 4, with a flurry of Lollipops in the background, which is a clear hint of what’s to come. As this is merely a teaser, we aren’t able to get hold of a specific update rollout timeframe, but it could be any time before December if this teaser is any indication.
Samsung traditionally rolls out the latest version of Android for its latest flagships followed by older smartphones. So keeping that in mind, it’s likely that the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy S5 will be the first in line to receive the coveted new update.
