Samsung Galaxy S5 revealed to be getting Android 5.0 in December

Android 5.0 Lollipop

It’s common knowledge that the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 4 is getting the Android 5.0 update sometime in the coming months, but we didn’t quite know when. A new report now suggests that the Galaxy S5 could be getting the update as soon as December, although no specific date was provided by the source.

Samsung is always known to be among the first OEMs to roll out updates to its devices, so this was always expected. We’ve already seen a video showing an early Android 5.0 build on the Galaxy S5, so it’s not really a surprise that the smartphone will be the first to receive the coveted update.

It will be interesting to see what modifications Samsung will make in line with the Material Design UI introduced with Android 5.0. Although we don’t expect the TouchWiz skin to be toned down with Android 5.0, the user interface could be heavily revamped to accommodate for the new version of Android.
