Problem: Hey folks! My Samsung Galaxy S2 (Gt-19100) is stuck on the Samsung Logo. I’ve tried every solution, I could find on your page, but it does not work.
I can’t access the recovery System, go to safe mode or boot to recovery. The phone does not vibrate when I press volume + and – and then press the power button. Everything I’ve tried just ends up with the phone just showing the Samsung Logo. Please help! Kindly, Martin.
Troubleshooting: Hey Martin. If the phone won’t respond to hard keys, try the other way to boot it in safe mode. But before doing that, I strongly suggest you do the soft reset. Please follow these steps:
- Turn on the phone until it’s stuck on the Samsung logo.
- While the phone is on, remove the back cover and pull the battery out.
- While the battery is out, press and hold the Power key for a minute.
- Now replace the battery and the back cover.
- Boot the phone normally and while booting, continuously tap the Menu key (left of the Home key).
If the phone is still stuck, repeat the process and if the problem remained, you should consider flashing the firmware…or you can have a technician take a look at it.
Problem: Dear team, my Samsung S2 is from past few days not displaying the screens. the screen is not visible at all but phone is correctly switching on & off. Please advise. — Rahul
Troubleshooting: When you said that the phone is “correctly switching on and off” I assume you know exactly when the phone is on or not even without display. Now, try to turn the phone on and if you think it has boot successfully. Try to call the number associated with the phone to see if it rings, or you may send a text message or email to the account setup on that phone. The purpose is to know whether the phone still functions normally. If it does, then it’s just a display issue, otherwise, it could be a more serious hardware problem. But either way, I suggest you have it checked by an authorized tech.
Problem: I recently got an SGS2 from my dad. It had no problems everything worked fine until yesterday when I was on an app it came up with an error screen and turned off, so I turned it on again and it had the normal first screen but the went black. I can get it into recovery and download mode but I don’t know what to do. Can you help? – Ben
Solution: It’s probably just an app malfunctioning, Ben. You said you already tried booting in recovery and download modes so I believe you can boot in safe mode, too. Turn off the phone completely and then try to turn it back on. While it boots, tap on the Menu key (left side of the Home key) continuously. When the phone boots up successfully, you should be seeing the monochrome text that says it’s in safe mode. Now, you can try to find the app that may have caused this and uninstall it.
If, however, the phone refused to boot in safe mode, then boot in recovery mode and perform factory reset from there. But then again, there is a big chance it’s just app causing this so you may not be able to reach this point.
Problem: Hi, I’m sorry to trouble you. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, had it from new. No trouble whatsoever with it. However, roughly 4 months ago it fell into the sink (don’t ask how?! ), I got it out straight away and all seemed fine. However a few minutes later it turned off. I took the battery out etc and left it for 24hrs to dry out although I couldn’t see any water inside. I followed your instructions on the website, tried turning it on and nothing! Left it a further 24 hrs and it came on. After this episode all was fine, however sometimes when it was charging it would get hot and just turn off. I would take the back off and remove the battery and it would turn on again no worries.
About a week ago, everything was fine, I prob had 1/2 battery left, I left it in the car for a couple of hrs, went to touch the button to get the screen up and nothing worked. Since then I’ve just left it, took the back off and battery out and still won’t turn on!
I really am worried now as I’ve got so many photos on it and I really love the phone, I don’t really want a new one. What do you think I could do next. I’ve just purchased a cable on the internet to attach it to a laptop to see if the screen works. So far, I’ve tried putting the charger in but nothing appears. Thanks for your time. — R Davies.
Troubleshooting: It’s imperative you start your troubleshooting with soft reset. You know, take the battery out and press and hold the power button for a minute. It’s important because based on your description the phone just turned off one day and refused to come back on. So, we really don’t have any idea what happened or what triggered it.
If the phone still refused to boot up after the soft reset, attempt to boot in safe mode and recovery mode. The purpose of these procedures is simply to know if the integrity of hardware components are still intact. If they are, then the phone won’t have any problem booting up in any of those modes. However, if the phone still refused to boot in either safe mode or recovery mode, then it must be a hardware problem. Let a pro take a look at it. And oh, by the way, you didn’t trouble us. Problem: Hello there my name is Allen and my Samsung Galaxy S2 is experiencing a problem. When I call someone or someone calls me I can’t hear them and they can’t hear me even though I have the volume up. Along with when I call someone I don’t hear it dial. How can I fix this problem? Thank You.
Suggestion: Allen, it’s possible that the microphone and the earpiece of your phone were damaged or malfunctioning. But I want you to make sure it’s not just an app causing this problem. Try to boot your phone in safe mode and make a call. If the problem remained, then it’s time you brought it to a technician to be thoroughly checked.
Error: Hi, my Samsung Galaxy S2 will not charge it s giving me the message “CHARGING PAUSED. BATTERY TEMPERTURE TOO HIGH” Last night I took the battery out it was cold to the touch. I left the battery out over night then put back in this morning and attempted to charge. Again same message. Any ideas? I did try restarting several times. Thanks, Larry.
Suggestion: Hey Larry! I hate to break it to you but I want to straightly tell you it’s a hardware issue, specifically the board where the USB or utility port is attached. There’s nothing you can do to the phone that can fix it except if you replaced that component. You can buy the component off eBay and it’s cheap. It’s probably the service of the technician that would cost you more than $50 if you’re in the U.S.
Question: Hi, I get a red line flashing all round the outside of the screen when I go into email or messaging. It lasts only a moment but looks a bit worrying. What could be causing it? — Rita
Answer: It is known to many as “Strict Mode,” which only occurs in phones running Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean. Don’t worry about it. In fact, you can just turn if off by going to Settings > Developer Options and just unmark the checkbox next to Strict mode enabled.
Problem: Sir, my Samsung Galaxy s2 I9100 fell from my hands from a height of about 2 to 3 feet. It landed on the floor on one edge and was shut off immediately. Samsung service guy just replace the battery and tried to switch t on .When the phone didn’t start he said its a mother board complaint which i doubt as he didn’t check much and did do any trouble shooting. Suggestion: Samsung technicians or representatives sure know their devices but they don’t earn much in repairs so they would rather make you buy another unit than fix your problem. I suggest you bring the phone to another technician who is willing to run tests to know what the problem really is.
Problem: Hi! My name’s Cami and I’m a Sprint customer. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, and I’ve had it for about 2 years. My phone renewal is up in a month. Starting today, my phone will randomly shut on and off, over and over again. It would turn back on, say I have a 0 percent battery, and it will somehow stay on and charge up to 25 percent without having it plugged in…
I’ve taken the battery out and let it sit, but the lock button is just not working at all. It won’t lock my screen, and when I try to screenshot things it just does not want to work. I have Sprint, and my renewal will come up in a month. I don’t want to pay a lot of money fix this phone if I’m getting a new one in a month… What could I do that would fix it for free? Thank you!
Suggestion: Hey, Cami. I think there’s no problem with the phone at all, your description led me to believe that the power button of the device is somehow stuck so it is pressed all the time. That could be the reason why the phone turns on and off by itself. I believe Sprint has in-store technicians, just have the phone checked and provide these same details. I understand why you don’t want to spend so much to have it fixed and you don’t need to.
Problem: Hi, I am curious if there is any way to get my camera to work faster. I used to have almost 2,000 pictures on the phone, but it had gotten to the point where when I took a picture it would freeze up for a few seconds. Especially if I want to go back and look at the picture right away. Then when I try to go back to take another picture it takes what seems like forever to go back to the camera. I have deleted a bunch of my pictures and cleared other things from the phone because I figured it was a space issue, yet it is still doing the same thing. Thanks, Rebecca.
Solution: The issue isn’t with the camera app but with the Gallery app. Storage may not have something to do with it but the number of photos may have. You said the camera app seems to freeze when you preview pictures but such function is Gallery’s job, although the camera calls on it while it’s active. To fix the problem, just clear the cache and data of the Gallery app via Settings and Application Manager.
