LG has just posted financial results for the third quarter of 2014 with sales of over 16.8 million devices being reported during the three-month period. The company’s midrange L-series of devices combined by the LG G3 and its variants have lead the company from the front. As a result of this, LG has posted operating profits of $440 million or 461 billion Korean Won which is a significant improvement over Q2.
Samsung is expected to post results for Q3 fairly soon, although it has cautioned investors that the numbers might not be all that impressive. Given the amount of competition Samsung is seeing in the mobile industry, this was always expected. But considering the sales of the Galaxy Note 4 so far, Samsung will expect to end 2014 on a high.
LG had the following to say about the latest quarterly results – “Building on its momentum and two consecutive profitable quarters, LG expects to strengthen its positioning in the smartphone market with its G Series and L Series models despite the landscape becoming more competitive.”
