According to an LG official from Belgium and the Netherlands, the company’s flagship LG G3 smartphone will receive the Android 5.0 update by the end of the year. It’s safe to assume that the company will start sending out the update by mid-December, with the carrier models of the handset being the last to get it. This comes after Motorola, HTC, Sony and Samsung promised Android 5.0 updates for their flagship handsets.
LG will also keep the G Pro 2 smartphone in its update cycle as it was the company’s first smartphone of the year. It will be interesting to see how LG’s custom UI will be altered in order to accommodate for the Android 5.0 update. We’re guessing manufacturers already have access to the Android 5.0 source code to work on their iterations of the update. Expect LG to provide more details in the coming weeks as it gears up to send out the update. But don’t hold your breath if you own a carrier variant of the smartphone.
