Lenovo finishes acquisition of Motorola Mobility for $2.91 billion

Motorola Lenovo

Motorola has just announced that it is now formally a part of the Lenovo family as the $2.91 billion acquisition which was initiated last year is now complete. This officially takes Motorola off Google’s hands, although we don’t expect much to change in the near future as far as devices are concerned.

Lenovo has made it very clear that the company shares similar ambitions and will ensure that Motorola continues its run in the months to come. This in turn means that the range of Droid devices and other stock Android offerings will continue to remain in circulation as they’re quite popular in the U.S.

Lenovo believes that its focus will be delivering stock Android Motorola devices and the quickest updates to its devices. We have heard rumors of a Motorola branded tablet being in the pipeline too, so this could prove to be an interesting time for the two companies. Lenovo mentions that Motorola will still have its headquarters in Chicago and the company’s offices all over the globe will function as usual.
