Samsung’s recently announced Gear VR wearable could go pretty light on the wallets if a new report is anything to go by. According to this report, the device will break cover on the 1st of December in South Korea for somewhere close to 200,000 Won which is approximately $187. There’s no word on whether the same price will apply to global markets as well, but it’s safe to predict that the price will not exceed $200.
Unfortunately, there’s still no word on when the global markets will get the Gear VR with only South Korea mentioned in this report. Some Best Buy stores in the U.S. have already begun stocking up on demo units of the Gear VR, so it could launch Stateside sometime soon.
The Gear VR requires a Galaxy Note 4 to function at the moment, so it will have to be sold as a bundle along with the smartphone. Even older Samsung devices such as the Galaxy Note 3 or the Galaxy S5 aren’t compatible with the device, so the company isn’t exactly targeting a large section of consumers with the Gear VR.
