HTC appears to be taking selfie oriented smartphones to a whole new level with its upcoming Desire Eye handset. The leaked press materials reveal that the handset is packing a 13-megapixel front facing camera with a dual LED flash. Needless to say, the smartphone also has a 13-megapixel shooter on the back with the same LED flash arrangement.
Other specs of the smartphone include a 5.2 inch Full HD display, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 SoC, Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6 and a 2,400 mAh battery. It’s pretty odd at first to have a 13-megapixel camera on the front with a dual LED flash. But given the ongoing selfie trend, it’s not completely a surprise that HTC would launch something like this. The leak also mentions that the handset is IPX7 certified, meaning it will be immune to the forces of the nature as well.
By the looks of it, the Desire Eye appears to be a real showstopper as far as the hardware specs are concerned. We’re yet to make sure whether the smartphone will be limited to a particular region or will break cover globally, but don’t be surprised either way.
