HTC is expected to launch the Nexus 9 tablet sometime this month. And a new report suggests that the Taiwanese manufacturer will have more tablets coming from its sheds in the months to follow, thus marking its formal re-entry to the tablet segment after a long break. The Jetstream and the Flyer were the company’s last known tablets launched back in 2011.
If the Nexus 9 is a benchmark for the company’s future devices, it’s safe to say that the Android tablet segment is going to get a lot more competitive. Historically, Android tablets have been behind the iPads in terms of sales and demands, but 2015 could finally be the year to change that.
At this point, there’s no word on what these new gen HTC tablets will be like or if there will be multiple tablets breaking cover at once. It is however said that the manufacturer will unveil its tablets in time for the annual smartphone announcement, which is around March. So in addition to launching the successor to the HTC One M8 sometime around Spring, the manufacturer might also have a tablet of its own to show off. It will be interesting to see if the company will limit itself to flagship devices or venture into the budget tablet segment as well. Either way, it’s good news that yet another major OEM has joined the tablet segment.
