The HTC One M8 Eye has just gone up for sale on HTC China’s official online store. For those confused, this is not the same as the HTC Desire Eye which was announced last evening. The only distinguished factor with the One M8 Eye compared to the standard One M8 is the presence of the 13-megapixel camera on the back with the same Duo Camera layout for depth focusing and some other nifty features. HTC China has listed the smartphone for 3,999 CNY or $652 which is quite decent for an offering like this.
The rest of the hardware specs sheet is identical to the One M8 in every aspect, including the aluminum unibody casing as well as the 5 inch 1080p display, the quad core Snapdragon 801 chipset, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The manufacturer has used the same 5-megapixel front camera as well, so the rear camera is the only change here. The listing mentions that the One M8 Eye will break cover on the 15th of October in China with no word on the global launch as of yet.
It is possible that HTC will keep this exclusive to a handful of regions so as to not confuse the market with too many similar offerings.
