As we near the launch of Android L, we’re seeing Google update most of its core apps with Material Design elements. One of Android’s most important apps, the Play Store is now getting this all important update. Although the current iteration of Play Store already has plenty of Material Design features, Google has bumped it up with this new version 5.0.31 update.
Users can expect an all-round change in the UI, with the app icon getting a lot flatter as well. The coloring has been changed which are now visibly bright and striking. The hamburger menu on the top left now gets its own transition animation, which is a neat touch from Google.
Overall, expect a complete overhaul of the Play Store after you download this update. Bear in mind that although Google is rolling out the new Play Store to Android users right away, it might take some time to hit all devices. But if you’re impatient to give it a spin, you can sideload the apk file manually from the link below. Customers on Android L preview are reportedly seeing some issues with this new Play Store, so it might be better to wait for the official OTA update.
This update is compatible with devices running Android 2.3 and up.
