Google Play Music is the default music player app on stock Android devices, but is also included in every OEM skinned smartphone or tablets as part of Google’s revised policies. And now, the Play Store listing has revealed that the app has surpassed over 500 million downloads, speaking volumes about the number of users who have Play Music on their devices.
It goes without saying that a majority of those users received the app by default on their device, but it’s a significant achievement nonetheless. Other popular Google apps like YouTube, Gmail, Hangouts etc have had the privilege of reaching this feat under similar circumstances.
Although the number is quite substantial, it doesn’t shed light on the amount of active users. Google has made the app more alluring to customers by launching the All Access music subscription service allowing cross platform music streaming with relative ease. However, Play Music All Access is only accessible in a handful of countries, so it’s yet to spread its wings on a global scale.
