It was long rumored that Motorola will finally end Verizon’s exclusivity of the Droid series and offer customers on other networks a chance to enjoy these devices. And now, a possible variant of the upcoming Droid Turbo handset has been spotted on FCC carrying the bands necessary to function on AT&T. Could this be the Moto Maxx that we’ve heard about for so long now? The device seems to align with the Droid Turbo as per the FCC listing, both in terms of physical appearance and hardware, so it’s quite clear that the two devices are essentially the same but with different branding.
The device spotted here has the FCC ID IHDT56PK2 while the Droid Turbo was listed with the FCC ID IHDT56PK1, so there’s an obvious connection here. Motorola could take the wraps off the two devices soon and finally provide a Maxx variant with a large battery for customers on AT&T or other networks.
Motorola clearly has a busy schedule as we head into the latter part of the year. The company is co-launching the Nexus 6 smartphone with Google in the coming weeks and the aforementioned devices to show off as well. Christmas is clearly coming early if you’re a fan of Motorola.
