There have been plenty of theories floating around the internet about the potential name for the upcoming Android 5.0 operating system. While Lollipop and Lemon Meringue Pie were the front runners for the most part, a new post from a person familiar with Google has indicated that it could instead be known as Licorice. Giovanni Calabrese who is responsible for making Android figures outside Google’s HO in San Francisco said the following in a post – “I never had a great liking for Licorice, but damn! there are some great flavors out there !!!”
In another post, Calabrese mentions that he will be spending the week over at Google’s HO, giving further credence to the speculation. This is clearly a teaser of what’s to come from Google in the coming days, although we wouldn’t be surprised if Google goes with an entirely different name for Android 5.0. The upcoming Android release is expected to be shown off during the launch of the Nexus 9 tablet later this week, so we’ll keep an eye out for any word on this particular rumor. Would you consider Android Licorice to be a catchy name?
