The Sony Xperia Z3 is known to have a high level of water resistance (IP68) which is quite rare on modern devices. And UK retailer Carphone Warehouse has decided to demonstrate the true potential of the smartphone by performing an underwater unboxing.
As you can see, the smartphone seems to be functioning perfectly even though it’s completely submerged in water. This is a pretty innovative way to build interest and hype for the smartphone, but only time will tell if this will convince buyers to get the Xperia Z3 when a successor is less than six months away. Sony’s six month update cycle has clearly not gone well with the fans, so any new smartphone that the company launches could go out of circulation in less than a year.
The Xperia Z3 packs a 5.2 inch 1080p display, a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back, 3GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of internal storage, a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 SoC, Android 4.4.4 KitKat and a 3,100 mAh battery. Early reviews have praised the battery backup of the Sony flagship with some reports pegging a 2-day battery life out of one charge.
The smartphone is expected to arrive via Verizon as the Xperia Z3v while Sprint and T-Mobile are expected to carry the smartphone as well. Sony is hosting an event on October 9 in New York City which will provide availability details of the smartphone in the U.S.
