Sony’s Xperia series of smartphones have been quite popular across the globe. However, customers in the U.S. never had enough options from the carriers to get these flagship handsets (apart from T-Mobile). And now, on the eve of the Xperia Z3 announcement, we’re hearing that Verizon Wireless could be carrying the latest Sony flagship under the “Xperia Z3v” moniker.
Leaks in the past have indicated that Verizon could launch an Xperia smartphone, but back then we were under the impression that it would be the Xperia Z2. However, according to some documents accessed by the folks over at PC Mag, the Xperia Z3 will become the first Sony flagship after the Xperia Play to launch via Verizon.
We’re still waiting for specifics from the carrier, so treat this as a rumor until then. The Xperia Z3 will certainly make a decent addition on Verizon’s shelves and would give the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the HTC One M8 a run for their money.
The newest Sony flagship packs a 5.2 inch 1080p display, a 20.7-megapixel camera, a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 quad core SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 3,100 mAh battery and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
