Sony Xperia Z2 sees a price reduction in the U.S.

Sony Xperia Z2

With the arrival of the Sony Xperia Z3 expected in the U.S., the manufacturer has now slashed the pricing of the predecessor. The Xperia Z2 which would usually set customers back by $749.99 unlocked has now received a price cut of $170 bringing the price down to just $579.99.

It’s probably not wise for customers to get an Xperia Z2 at the moment given the imminent arrival of the Z3. Verizon is expected to be launching the handset as the Xperia Z3V in the U.S. But if you’re looking for a flagship offering with an enviable specs sheet, you can’t go wrong with the Xperia Z2. The revised pricing of the smartphone is only applicable from Sony’s American online store, so you might have to shell out a tad more if you’re getting it elsewhere.

The price reduction from Sony is understandable, although at $580, the device is still not what many would call reasonable. But considering that it packs a hardware specs sheet similar to that of the recent HTC or Samsung flagships, the pricing is pretty much on par with the competition.
