A new report is suggesting that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy S5 will start getting the Android L update in late November or early December. This “insider” info could be accurate considering that Android L is expected to be released sometime in October, possibly in coordination with the expected Nexus 9 launch next month, so this seems to fit in very nicely.
However, considering how slow carriers usually are with updates, it could take a little longer for them to roll out the update. So it is likely that this report might have only taken unlocked variants into account. Either way, it’s good news that Samsung will be ready with the latest version of Android just a month after its release. In any case, owners of the unlocked Galaxy S5 or Galaxy Note 4 should see an update by the end of the year.
HTC have already announced that their flagships will receive an update to Android L within 90 days. It will be interesting to see if the likes of LG, Sony and others will be committed to rolling out the latest version of Android.
