Samsung has just unveiled the rugged Galaxy Tab Active tablet for businesses, sporting a sturdy exterior and the promise of protection from water and dust. The device has an IP67 rating and Samsung claims that it can withstand drops from up to 1.2 meters above the ground. Design wise, the tablet is pretty much like the Galaxy S4 Active or the Galaxy S5 Active with physical buttons on the front making way for the capacitive touch keys that we see on Samsung devices.
The tablet comes with an 8 inch 1280 x 800 resolution display, a 1.2 GHz quad core CPU, a 3.15-megapixel camera on the back, a 1.2-megapixel front camera, 16GB of storage, 1.5GB of RAM, a 4,450 mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat. Pricing details haven’t been disclosed yet, but Samsung claims that the tablet will be available in standard WiFi as well as LTE models. The company’s press release mentions that the tablet will be available only in the Titanium Green color, so options are quite limited for the users.
As Samsung specifies, the tablet is directed towards businesses, but we’re sure there will be a medium for regular customers to purchase the Galaxy Tab Active as well. Would you be interested in a ruggedized tablet such as this one? Sound off below.
