NomadKey Portable USB Smartphone Cable Review: Don’t Leave Home Without It

Have you ever been in a situation where your mobile device has ran out of juice and you just can’t find a USB cord to charge your device? Nomad, a company based in San Francisco, has the solution in their latest NomadKey portable USB smartphone cable. This accessory is just the size of a key and can be attached to any keychain. It’s light, durable, and highly flexible owing to the fact that it is made of high grade rubber.

I was able to test two versions of this must have accessory courtesy of the team over at Nomad who sent the products to me. There’s one version which can be used by Android devices that make use of a microUSB port and another version that’s compatible with the iPhone 5 charging port.

Gone are the days when you had to bring a lengthy USB cord that oftentimes gets tangled in your bag or pocket. With the NomadKey everything stays neat as you just have to attach it on your keychain. Charging your Android phone or iPhone has never been this easy as you just have to attach one end of the NomadKey to your mobile device and the other end to a USB port. It’s very easy to use and eliminates any messy cables.

I’ve tested this accessory on my Android phone by connecting it to a laptop, a wall charger, and even a power bank and I must say I’m impressed with it.

Some of its advantages over a regular USB cord include

  • Easy to carry around since all you have to do is attach it to your keychain.
  • Highly durable since it is made of an engineering-grade polycarbonate from Bayer and a stellar rubber elastomer from Dupont. You can bend it in any shape and it still goes back to its original shape without damage.
  • Great design

The microUSB version of this accessory works on several mobile phones such as all Windows Phones, all Blackberry phones, and Android phones from Samsung, LG, HTC. The lightning cable version works on Phone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 6, iPad Air, iPad (4th), iPad mini (retina), iPad mi, iPod touch (5th), and the iPod nano (7th).

The next time you leave your home make sure to bring your NomadKey with you as you’ll never know when you will need to charge your phone.
