LG has just laid out a billboard just outside the King Khalid International airport in Saudi Arabia which has managed to enter the Guinness Book of World Records for being the largest billboard in the world. The ad is pertaining to the LG G3 and shows the smartphone in its entirety. It is about 240 meters wide and 12 meters high, which is colossal by every stretch of the imagination. The structure reportedly weighs 1,800 tons which speaks volumes about the enormity of the billboard.
The ad takes up a total of 3,000 square meters of space, which is insanely large for a billboard. For the time being, LG is marketing the LG G3 smartphone in this space, but will slowly transition into other products such as home appliances or other new devices. Over 20 million people reportedly arrive in Saudi Arabia every year and LG hopes to make at least $25 million in revenue over the next year after posting this billboard.
Middle Eastern countries have been generally favorable towards LG smartphones, so it’s no surprise that the company has picked this region for the rather extravagant ad. What do you think of LG’s latest marketing strategy?
